NEW PROBLEMS TO BE CONFRONTED BY CHRISTIANS

1. Catholic social teaching states the importance of reflecting on the changing situations of the world and applying Gospel principles to it.

2. Nations need to revise their relationships to work for greater justice.

3. The excessive concentration of means and powers in private multi-national companies can lead to a new and abusive form of economic domination on the social, cultural and political level.

4. Liberation starts with the interior freedom from goods and power. It can only be found through love and service for humankind.

5.  There is a need to move from economics to politics. The political power must be for the common good.

6. Christians who are called to take up political activity should try to make their choices consistent with the
Gospel.

7. This involvement in politics also demands a greater sharing in responsibility and decision-making.
